Glenn Close to be honoured with icon award in Zurich
Glenn Close will also present her new film The Wife at the 2017 Zurich Film Festival.
Glenn Close will be awarded the Golden Icon Award at the 2017 Zurich Film Festival.
Six-time Oscar nominee Glenn, who has yet to go home with gold at the Academy Awards, has enjoyed a hugely varied and successful Hollywood career, spanning film, TV and theatre.
Her awards cabinet boasts numerous Golden Globes, Emmys, Tonys and even a SAG award, and she’ll now add this latest honour from the Zurich Film Festival (ZFF).
“We’re honoured to present Glenn Close with our Golden Icon Award at this year’s Festival. From her commanding portrayal of Patty Hewes in Damages to the glorious Marquise de Merteuil in Stephen Frears’ Dangerous Liaisons via Alex Forrest and Cruella De Vil, Glenn Close has brought her extraordinary presence to countless memorable roles over a truly formidable career,” ZFF co-directors Nadja Schildknecht and Karl Spoerri praised in a statement.
Glenn will also present her latest film, The Wife, at the festival. Co-starring Christian Slater, Max Irons and Jonathan Pryce, The Wife tells the tale of a writer who decided to leave her husband while travelling to a receive a prestigious award.
“We are delighted to welcome her to Zurich and screen her latest film The Wife,” Nadja and Karl added.
Previous winners of the Golden Icon Award include Diane Keaton, Morgan Freeman, and 2016’s honouree Hugh Grant.
The 13th ZFF takes place from 28 September to 8 October, 2017.
